JAR Flight Doctor in Cape Town??
Just wondering if there is one down here or do I have to fly up to Joburg to see Buys for a medical (JAR) renewal??

Try Dr Philip W Buys M.D in Pretoria. He is FAA, SAR CAA, and in last April, he told me than he can do a JAA medical.

There his also Dr TZeuton in Douala Cameroon.

I've done a Class II medical for PPL purposes in CT some years ago. I think these guys will also do the Class I but I'm not sure about the JAR. The doctors are located in the private hospital (don't know the name) at Buitengracht. May be just phone one of the local flight schools odr Cape Aero Club and ask those guys for information.

I use a doc called Dr. Ingham who was great - does South Africa, UK CAA JAR, Australia, Canada and Ghana medicals from JHB International, and Grand Central. Give him a try.
