Im curious to know what kind of time people have that have gotten a call for an interview for Virgin Nigeria. Im sure they have a wide selection of resumes to pick and choose from, but im also guessing there going to interview alot of candidates for the first interview considering the airline is not paying for the travelling expenses. As for myself I got called for an interview and have,
approx 1900 TT, turbine exp, multi pic, but no jet. Anbody else care to share?

Well Done VK
soggy,
That's certainly a rapid and good response. Kudos to VK
I still haven't had a response to a complaint I made to the Bluetail customer service people way back in March

Well done to VK for their response. It sends a clear message to the crews and the passengers.........................'we don't mess with safety'.
Happy and safe travelling in 2007 to everyone.

re-irs
what in particular do you want to know about IRS?
But i can tell you that they are not reliable. They have one f28 i think at the moment, owned by a Kano Alhaji who has no respect for his crew by never paying them on time. The airline has had its license suspended many times.
They started well once upon a time though

MarkD,
As I said on page26, the 343s will leave eventually and return to the head lessor. What happens to them after that is anyones' guess.
Expect to see a A330 flying for VK just before the B767s come in. This will be only for a short period though!

Although it's good to see VK moving on from its A343 fleet, I don't see the start of a clear + focused fleet strategy yet. Moreover it's difficult to see how VK would "grow and expand" with only two 1991-built 767s. I had hoped VK would upgrade its fleet not go backward as far as fleet age is concerned!
The A330 plan makes matters even more confusing!

revnetwork - sorry I missed your post! I had gone back a few pages but thought I had caught up at P27.
Rani - I can't blame VK for holding back on LH fleet expansion. Given the DOT's recent unfavourable reply to Virgin America's application with respect to ownership and with several of the same opponents gunning for VK's application for US rights it would be suicide to go looking for more aircraft than existing routes can support. If US is a no go then stick with 767/330 but if US is go then 777/350 starts looking good.
Of course if SRB gives up on Virgin America there might be homes needed for A320s

My guess is yes, they would love to launch these routes ASAP but due to cash flow problem and need to become profitable before the IPO next year, they are holding back to a minimum operation (London and South Africa, and perhaps Dubai if resumed).
Of course the regional route collection is still limited but I understand this is due to 737 crew shortage... What is being done to address this, only they know... In the meantime AERO has launched Abidjan and will soon add Kinshasa, Luanda, and Douala as well.

New Aero Routes
GF,
That's very intersting news of aero. When did they start Abidjan? Do you know roughly when they plan to start their flights to Luanda, Douala and Kinshasa and what aircrafts they will use? They are my favouite airline in this region (except for the very rude check-in and security staffs ) and it would be very useful for me if I can fly with them. Will this be a multi stop route for detinations east of Lagos?
After my enquiries of Arik, I have received most courteous PM from their DFO informing me that the route will not be operating when I next have to fly , so will have to take aero to Owerri

quoting GLOBALFLYER: Consulting VK's launch pack PDF, I noticed they came in with the promise to turn LOS to a real hub with
This sir is the achilles heel of vk.DNMM,is bursting at its seams and cannot sustain vk's expansion. The authorities do not have the requisite manpower, training, equipment and most importantly the ideologyand concept to transform lagos into a hub. They are stretched to the limit, and its begining to crack, simple example try a transfer from abuja to gatwick with vk to lagos, and see the torture you go through with baggage in lagos where you ofload and re check in climbing a stair case, with a 6 degree gradient, and you know nigerians travel heavy.Meanwhile connection time is less than an hour, who the hell would want to transfer through such an airport?the baggae arrival areas are so ridiculously small, when two wide bodies of load e.g airfrance and vk tend to clash in the arrival hall, you are definetly going to loose your ankles,500 odd pasengers in a space less than the size of a basketball pitch each carrying trolleys with two suitcases each, trying to exit trough one door the size of,an aicraft door
is this the hub nigeria is planning?
meanwhile the minister has granted bellview permission to operate from this terminal too it just gets more interesting!
dont forget the conveyor belts that must get stuck every hour, and the single xray machine to process thousands of bags daily
WHAT A HUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
