i guess in Nigeria its okay to be able to take pics at an airforce base?where we operate, thats not possible mate.Anyway by your standards, you cant make out the risk, but from that one pic,I guess I could probably walk up to any aircraft there and touch it right?Nobody would stop me.I can see why you are proud of its security.

What a fraud you are Avsec 'Where we operate, that's not possible'. Hahahaha! . Just look at websites like Airliners. net or some of the other threads here and see pictures of aircraft at Lagos, Abuja and other joint military/civil bases. You're the one who said that Arik had invested in security and Aero is more vulnerable. You obviously don't even know the NAF Base Port Harcourt. You obviously haven't even read my previous post, because there I was merely commenting on Aero's security, not that of Arik or the NAF Base. If that's how you do your homework, maybe that's why you're not employed as their security consultant (or are you really just a freight handling agent and security wannabee?

Ticket Prices

So what is the price for a one way economy ticket LOS-PH(NAF Base) or PH-LOS ??

Problem with the DHC-8-300 (I guess it is a -300) is the 998 Kgs max load in the rear compartment. 50 pax 998 Kgs = less than 20 Kgs per pax. & you know how Nigerian's (and expats) just love those "Heavy" Tags hanging off their bags !

OOps

And I forgot, the overhead lockers are not up to storing much, so I guess on a full flight either the pax are in for an uncomfortable 1 hr 20 mins or they are gonna get awful close to that 998 Kgs !!

Well well Tombola, you are getting personal arent you?
suggest you study my contribution in context of your contributions only and you just may get it.........well anythings possible, even in your part of the world, and I am an optimist.

The NAF base according to my info from people operating in NGA is vulnerable to attack.
There are attacks and explosions taking place in PHC.
There are kidnaps of foreigners and Nigerians in PHC.
There are militants looking for Nigerian Government targets to attack or sabotage according to world media.
Aviation has always been a terrorist target due to media coverage worldwide interest in aviation disasters.
NAF base is vulnerable, and Arik is right to invest heavily in security, especially once your pic is studied closely.Arik needs the investment in security.
My career, its success or lack of success is not the issue here.NAF base was the subject. Its security vulnerability was the subject.

Actually AVSEC I think you'll find that you didn't say those things in your previous post:
Arik must remember to publicise extensively, any local staff employed in the area, to survive in those neck of the woods.
PHC notoriouse for organized extortion, and sabotage. One of the many reasons we are not there.
Good news though innit?
getting to be experts in car bombs so watch that car park.Great place to lob mortars if you get my drift.
Arik is going to make a mint from this. Its good they have invested in security, much better thanAero who are more vulnerable.
No mention of NAF Base there and you have just said that Aero hasn't invested in security and Tom is just saying that they have. You said that Arik has invested in security, but Tom's vanished picture proves they need to invest in security. According to their website they are already operating their service to Port Harcourt.
There are attacks and explosions taking place in PHC.
There are none taking place in UK, where I see you say you are based then?
There are militants looking for Nigerian Government targets to attack or sabotage according to world media.
There are none looking for American or British Government targets to attack or sabotage according to world media?
It's all relative isn't it?

I have seen that Arik now have Port Harcourt as destination on their website, but does anybody know if they have actually start the service yet? I plan to fly there from Lagos in next 2 weeks and wish to avoid that horrible Owerri if possible.

Question Arik Service to PH not Running Yet

Although Arik have 3 Port Harcourt flights daily advertised on their website, the service does not actually seem to have started and they have only had a couple of half-full aircraft land there so far. Does anyone here have any idea why and when the full service will really start?

Angry Chusan, Are you Wishing a Crash?

chusan01,
.....Or whatever your name is, what an extraodinary, stupid, spiteful and vindictive first post (unless you have others under some other name ). Are you hoping and praying for a crash for Nigeria's newest operator? . Their website, which has been working fine since a small problem a short time ago, gives details of Arik's flights and the new service to Port Harcourt seems to be getting up and running very quickly. What's your beef with Arik? If your post is typical of what you intend for the future I suggest you make it your first and last

Thumbs down Taking the Michael

anjo,

This joker, Michael M, is a Zimbabwean who's not even an aviator (I think those in marketing are classified as professional dissimulators.

You can view all his (uninformed) posts, a lot of which refer to Arik on:

OOL.

You're right, what a way to start in Prune by appearing to wish that an operator has a prang. Let's hope that he goes down in flames himself

Thumbs down

Actually chusan,

I know who many of the posters on this forum are and while they may not claim to be experts, many are professional pilots, not some kind of marketing executive or whatever it is you do. I had a look at your ramblings on the link toks posted and it seems much of your information probably just comes from reading Nigerian newspapers. What exactly were you meaning when you were talking of waiting for Arik's first prang? I look forward to reading of your first prang in some Nigerian newspaper - ****!

The Arik service is a single class cabin as it's a Dash 8. The basic price one way is N17,840 (but basically N20,000 with taxes, commission or whatever). In present security situation it's actually a fair price.
