Hope the car is insured for airside risk, otherwise someone could be seriously out of pocket.

Always worries me when people drive cars on airfields in uk - Most people are not aware that the small print in most car insurance policies specifically excludes use on airfields or aerodromes.

Was aware of a very unpleasant situation where someone reversed into helicopter causing hundreds of thousands of pounds damage - claimed on their insurance to be met with a loud laugh and a suggestion that they read their policy. Car owner / driver promptly told the helicopter owner that the insurance had refused to pay out so that was that. Ended up in court. Car owner / driver proven negligent - went bankrupt and lost house. Helicopter owner only got half of what he was out of pocket.

Though by no means absolute, I think in some cases, depending upon the [hull] insurance on the aircraft, the aircraft insurance would pay for repairs to the aircraft, after all that's what it was insured for. But the insurer is certain to sue back the car owner and insurance. I just wonder what happens when you get the car owner to court, and they say that they were not driving it! - It's silly, but true! Now, if the same person owns the car and the plane, I'd bet that the insurer is going to laugh off both claims!
