Teen makes an emergency landing on a bridge.

Landon Lucas, an 18-year-old flying for Paramount Air Service, reported that his plane began to experience engine trouble as he was flying near Steel Pier in Atlantic City, officials said. He released his banner into the ocean and was attempting to reach Ocean City Municipal Airport when he spotted a gap in traffic in the westbound lanes of the causeway.

Lucas landed the plane with no damage to the aircraft, and no injury to himself or any drivers, officials said.

...witness Daniel Lepone. "I heard a loud boom..."
Hmmm, perhaps these the first pix of a new supersonic tail-dragger :}

Otherwise good job from the young man :ok:

How much of that airplane is missing or detached from the engine? The aircraft was originally a J3C-65 but appears to have been modified under a restricted airworthiness certificate to use a Lycoming O-235. Maybe that mod was never cowled but what's that dangling from the SCAT hose?

Looks like the filter/carb heat box, but some bits missing. May be the cause of the engine problem rather than damage during the landing.

Cubs I've seen banner towing in the Miami area mostly seemed to be devoid of cowlings...

We put a couple of Cubs on the UK register. Ex Belgium army. They had 0-235s fitted and were used as glider tugs.

Being picky, they probably had O-235s. :O

I haven't listened to the audio for this one yet, but it looks like a well executed forced landing.

Nice end comment to the video!

I guess he's allowed to use that comment! Mine would probably have been more unfit for print...
