A light aircraft has crashed near an airport in West Sussex, prompting emergency services to warn people to avoid the area. Roads have been closed near the scene of the crash, to the north of Goodwood Aerodrome. There have been no reports of casualties. The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has been informed |

BBC updated report.
"A 65-year-old man from Balls Cross, near Petworth in West Sussex, and a 58-year-old man from Gosport in Hampshire died, a Sussex Police spokesman said." "A pilot who had taken off from Goodwood Airfield shortly before the crash said he believed the plane had taken off between about 16:20 and 16:30. He said: "Shortly after I took off another plane took off. Other air traffic was told not to enter the airport air traffic zone. I could see black smoke reaching 100ft (30m) at the other side of the runway just outside the bounds of the airfield itself." |
Unconfirmed reports that it may have been the based Rogers Jodel clone.

Goodwood closed temporarily
The airfield is closed until noon tomorrow (Friday 2nd). AAIB don't want any overflying of the crash site, which is close to the boundary. Reportedly the crash vehicles need time to replenish, too.

This aircraft has just gone through a Change of Ownership on 23-Jun-2021 so it was probably the new owner.
