NTSB Accidents
My link to the NTSB Monthly Accident Synopses now gets a list of years, but nothing else to click on.

http://www.ntsb.gov/_layouts/ntsb.aviation/month.aspx A perfect illustration of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". :O |
I've met Carol, but she doesn't seem to allow a scan, and selection of accidents that look to have possibly relevant lessons for my kind of flying.

Just had a look at CAROL and she is one ugly bird. Tried searching for events to one aircraft type and came up with 0 each time. As Dave said, if it ain't broke......

It's doubly ironic because the person that new system is named after - a now-retired analyst called Carol Floyd - has been extremely helpful in the past.
Around 2002, I had extensive email correspondence with her about providing access to a bunch of around 90,000 accident records prior to 1982, which up to then were gathering dust in an inaccessible recess of the NTSB's database. The end result was to make those records queryable and downloadable online. In fact if I look 3 feet above my head as I type, I can see a ring binder labelled "NTSB 1962-1982 Coding Manual". The new system is a dumbed-down disaster. Fortunately, the underlying data is still downloadable via FTP, so that's something at least. |
Change to site - now monthly list can be viewed, but without the details shown before - just date and location, and only PDF available, not html.
|
Now back to everything working as before, except only PDF reports, no html.
