Light aircraft down Romsey ( Hants ) 8th Oct.
 

I understand a light aircraft came down in Romsey on the above date. Pilot injured quite badly, but, thankfully alive. Does anybody have any further details please ?

Oh, and a special mention for the Basingstoke Gazette here for the " collided with a field " inclusion in the report.

This article suggests that the accident occurred on Wednesday (7th) at around 4:20 pm.

Based on the published owner's name, the aircraft involved appears to have been Skywagon G-BLOS.

Reason for asking was I have a former aircrew friend , not on here, who has family living adjacent as it were. He told me about the accident on Thursday, hence my mistake with the date, so I suggested he have a look on here as a guest because usually such incidents become a thread. I was a bit surprised therefore when there was no mention so I asked on his behalf given the only reports have been in local media.

The accident happened just over the road from me. I have a strong idea who called the emergency services but will say no more. I heard a noise which sounded akin to an explosion shortly after 16:00 on Wednesday. My husband thought it was a crash but because of the environment, lots of trees, we could see nothing. The most accurate part of the newspaper report, referenced above, was the number of response / emergency vehicles. I would add that it is very reassuring to know help is there when needed.
We had moved into our new home the day before the accident and, particularly as pilots, feel a huge sadness at this event. I believe it is a miracle the pilot has survived and wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Hasn't appeared on ASN yet which is a surprise. If indeed it was C185 G-BLOS, it appears to be the floatplane example I recall sitting on the grass at Popham 35 years ago - landed there on floats for conversion back to wheels (I had latterly thought it was amphibious C180 G-BKMM - but I was quite sure my glimpses of it from the A303 were of floats on grass and not a wheel in sight! A pic of 'LOS on the Air Britain site confirms that to be the case!)
