Light aircraft crash Switzerland 25 July 2020
 

A light aircraft crashed in the mountains above Blatten, Lötschental, Switzerland, around midday yesterday, 25 July 2020. I saw a short report on Swiss TV and from the video it seems to be a Cessna 172, but difficult to be sure as there was a post-crash fire. All four occupants died. It was flying from the airfield of Reichenbach. Weather at the time reported as fine. I await the official report for details.

Thanks Dave. I agree; the orange matches the short video clip I saw. Local papers only identify it as a "petit avion". I'm waiting for the initial SETE accident report. Maybe after the weekend.

Four adults in a C-172 on a hot day at around 9000 Ft MSL in a mountain valley?

Pilot should have known better, and not taken trusting and unsuspecting pax for a fatal sightseeing flight.

Reminds of the similar Piper Archer accident at Diavolezza in 2017, and of the Ju-52 at Piz Segnas in 2018.
