U.S. Naval Pilots Die in Civil Aviation Crash
 

I checked the Forum for any discussion of the subject crash, but I could find no mention of it. The crash involved two highly-experienced U.S. Navy Fighter Pilots who perished in the crash of a Piper PA-32RT-300 Turbo Lance II aircraft while conducting a cross country flight from Jasper, Alabama (JFX) to Pensacola, Florida International Airport (PNS) in relatively benign conditions (daytime VMC). Below is all I've been able to find on the aircraft accident that claimed the lives of the two Navy pilots

. The crash occurred around 1637 hr. Lcl on June 10, 2020, in a field approximately 4 miles S.W. of Craig Field (SEM), Selma, Alabama. It has been reported, but not confirmed, that Commander Fuller was acting as PIC, with Captain Segars as passenger. The pilot had filed for a cruising altitude of 15,000 ft. and reached that level approximately 34 minutes after takeoff. A descent of approximately 1400 fpm was initiated approximately 7-1/2 minutes after reaching their cruising altitude, but began to increase through 2,000 fpm before reaching a rate of descent of 3,000 fpm just before the loss of data. The heading for most of the flight fluctuated only a few degrees either side of the direct heading to Pensacola of 177 degrees true; however, the heading began to decrease in a left turn approximately 1-1/2 minutes after beginning the descent. Loss of data occurred approximately 8-1/2 minutes after the beginning of the descent, at an altitude of 3,500 ft. MSL (approx. 3300 ft. AGL).

Take a look at the NTSB Preliminary Report linked below, and you'll see that things were really "turning to worms" aboard that airplane when an onboard fire was reported to ATC.
