Airplane missing in sea off Dominica

4 missing after plane crashed in Dominica | Loop News

Seems that the info on the airplane being one of a flight of five is being reported as inaccurate.

It took off from Douglas Charles the main airport here at 6:45 Sunday 16th - missing shortly after take off when it failed to notify passing 1,500ft.

A night flight - good weather conditions - no mayday or pan calls.

Weather this weekend was not too good generally (I flew Canefield, Dominica to St Francois, Guadeloupe on Friday evening - weather was margin in north of Dominica, remained so Saturday) but good Sunday afternoon.

Two French helicopters, the coast guard/police and local fishermen are involved in the search - so far a passport and some luggage has been found.

Four persons on board - either a PA28-151 or PA28-151.

Yes, linked report quotes the tail number of a Warrior.

They just fished a wheel and oleo strut out of the sea - so looks 100% that they are all gone.

Think it makes it the most significant airplane accident in the Eastern Caribbean for the past decade.

All very sad, a group of airplane fans on a Sunday trip:(

They just found another wheel and a chunk of shredded wing.

After 40 hours of searching in rough seas the search has been called off with a couple of bags and undercarriage parts found floating due to the attached tyres.

Not sure I'll feel so confident about that relatively short crossing ever again.

RIP to all. Sorry to hear about yet another single engine aircraft lost at sea.
