A friend who is in Courchevel posted this. Looks like it had come in from TNF - https://www.flightradar24.com/data/a...-guyz#1f6f0786 Hopefully the snow was soft and there isn't too much damage. |
Two very good quality video's from different angles of the whole incident are available on this page

Isn't there a requirement for special training at Courchevel? Where they teach you that landing long and fast is no good there? Luckily no serious injuries in this case other than to the unfortunate aeroplane. |

There were unfortunately some injuries, one bad . and yes, you need special qualification /rating to use altiports in France. and Courchevel is restricted use to holder of that mountain rating.
Coming in too fast on an icy and sloped runway is not what they teach you in that rating. |

Less than inspiring airport response! You know if this happened during the opening hours of the AFIS agent ? (published by NOTAM) , if not then it is only RFFS level 1.. Courchevel is not a controlled airport . |

https://www.ledauphine.com/savoie/20...quatre-blesses That said, if anyone has been seriously injured I would expect it to be the pilot. That was quite some deceleration when the aircraft hit the berm, suggesting that it was pretty solid underneath. It wouldn't be surprising if he/she had hit their head on the coaming, notwithstanding their harness. Even worse would be the impact pushing the engine back through the firewall. |
Let's not overlook the injuries a person can sustain from the seatbelts themselves. Even if each occupant were held exactly in the intended position by their seatbelts, they can still be seriously injured by seatbelt forces alone. Of course, such injuries are better than those which would have been sustained by not being restrained. That was a hard hit.

I believe Tyrolean used to fly a 50 seater Dash 7 in there
The airport https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....94cce63a6a.jpg Dash 7 final to the airport Today's' crash hit hard - hope all will be after that 'bump' |
The BEA issued a bulletin : aircraft touched down after half of the down sloped part of the runway (*) and despite "energetic" braking by pilot could not stop before end runway. 4 injured (light) and major damage on aircraft .
(*) my note : means around 200m left and going 18% . No chance , but to be fair it had passed as well since long the no-go around point. Going around would have been far worse. Makes me wonder if the pilot was really qualified to land there. There will be an full Annex13-type report later. |

ATCwatcher - guess you know, but your comment makes it sound as if he was landing down the 18% slope - Courchevel is a one way strip, land uphill, takeoff downhill. He was definitely going up the hill when he touched down! |
F-GUYZ PA 46
The BEA (AAIB) reported on this French accident which has all the hallmarks of a non AOC.
Fortunately no one was killed Worth a close look through Google. |

Amazing reading. Talk about inexperience.

Just 18 days after the N264DB accident that tragically killed Sala and the pilot. Similar aircraft, and I guess similar operation in a "grey" area of the law.
Reported io the Sala thread, apparently passengers on F-GUYZ thought the flight had something to do with AF/KLM! PA-46 accident passengers wrongly believed they were flying with airline | News – Intecaerospace |
