Beriev BE-200 Strikes trees firefighting in Portugal
Aviation Safety network http://https://aviation-safety.net/index.php reports that a Beriev BE-200 was damaged fighting wildfires in Portugal yesterday: https://life.ru/t/%D0%BD%D0%BE%D0%B2..._v_portughalii
Wing leading edge slats, flaps and fuel tanks suffered significant damage. Strangely enough, some of the damage seems to involve holes caused by penetration of the skin from the inside out?? |
I dont get where you are seeing inside-out damage.
But they were damn lucky the stuck their engines on the tail for this flight ;) |
Maybe its the shadows on the photo, but that inboard flap damage looks as if it might have come from something dropping from above?
Very lucky indeed, could have spoiled their whole day! |
Spotter question, does anyone know which airfield the aircraft was flying from?
|
This happened several years ago in the same area with the same type, so is this a re-run of an old story, or a new event? The link to ASN doesn't work, so it's difficult to tell.
The base in the previous instance was Monte Real. |

Thanks Allan.
Here's the link to the previous incident: https://www.flightglobal.com/news/ar...uation-207849/ |
Monte Real looks like an interesting place to try and visit. Looked a Covera on google maps a suggested location and its gone just the runway edges with a big building in the middle.
