Engine Fire put out before Landing at Kelowna BC
Even made the local news.
Q400 en route Kamloops to Calgary. Engine fire en route. Extinguished before landing safely at Kelowna. All emergency services called out.

There are no airports east of Kelowna that would be suitable for a diversion, except in a dire emergency. The maximum MEA is 13,400'.

Was that an engine fire or an engine failure? The fire detection system moniters the cowling area around the engine not inside the jet pipe. I think the jet pipe area has a fire wire around it so it may have triggered a fire warning. It's over 3 years since I worked on Q400s.
