Convair Crash

Two people were killed in the crash of a Convair 440 near Ohio’s Toledo Express Airport (TOL) on Wednesday. The aircraft went down at approximately 2:37 a.m. local time just east of Runway 25 at TOL, hitting several unoccupied vehicles parked at an automotive repair business about one mile from the airport. The cargo flight, which was transporting automotive parts, was inbound to TOL from Millington, Tennessee. The victims have been identified as Laredo, Texas, residents Douglas R. Taylor, 72, and Donald C. Peterson Sr., 69.

The owner of the aircraft is believed to be Laredo-based Barker Aeromotive. Potential causes of the accident have not been identified. It has been reported that no emergency communications were received from the crew prior to the crash. A significant post-crash fire occurred. The NTSB is investigating the accident.
