Emergency services have located the whereabouts of the aircraft, which has been confirmed as a Beagle Pup light aircraft. They were initially told it was a helicopter that had gone down.
Island Echo can reveal that the plane was sighted going down to the West of Bembridge Airport by a plane heading out of Sandown Airport. A helicopter imbound to Sandown Airport has circled the area to confirm the crash and has landed at the crash site.
Its thought that the 2 occupants are alive. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time however an air ambulance has been scrambled to Bembridge.

From stuff coming from Sandown, a helicopter with pax very nearby landed and provided immediate assistance before the emergency services got there. That is probably the reason for the confusion.
AAIB have announced that they're attending.
