Skydiver and sightseeing planes collide mid-air - 4 dead (LHGD)

On Sunday morning a skydiver plane was completing its drop and was returning to the airfield and preparing to land when it collided mid-air with an aircraft that just took off from the airfield. The parachutists were all on the ground by that time, and the collision took place about 1 NM outside of the active Drop Zone and also outside of the traffic pattern.

The 2 aircraft tore each other's left wings off and crashed immediately, out of control. In the skydiver C-182, the pilot died. In the sightseeing PA-28, the pilot and 2 passengers died. The 2 passengers were a mother and her 8 year old son.

The skydiving competition was immediately aborted and the airfield closed for investigation.

Local native news with very sad pictures and links to LiveATC.Velvet - Helyszínel? - Hangfelvétel van arról, hogy figyelmezették a Gödöll?nél lezuhant egyik pilótát On the LiveATC track, many appear to hear the moment of collision, when the descending skydiver pilot transmitted his intention to Approach control to descend into uncontroller airspace. The APP controller acknowledged the transmission and warned the pilot about unknown traffic with VFR 7000 squawk below him - this was never acknowledge and S&R was initiated soon afterwards.

The two pilots were both local on the airfield and knew each other very well. The flying community is devastated - after several years of uneventful operation, this year alone there were already 4 crashed aircraft with 5 pilots and 2 civilian killed, 1 pilot seriously injured, who all departed from this specific airfield.
