The one to the east was a fusion of a grammar and an adjacent secondary modern. As a combined school the lower school was effectively in (I think) the SM, 4th/5th year in the grammar school and there was a new sixth form block between the two. It pulled in children from all the surrounding villages on that side of Keynsham so you didn't have to live in a posh house to go there. I had a couple of miles to walk. It was certainly considered a better place than the other one.
