Let's hope it's just a rumour...
Even at list prices it would cost ~1 million for 10 places at FTE. That might sound like a lot but in context it's only 0.4% of EI's annual profit. Or 11% of Willie Walsh's total salary/benefits. Put into the wider context of IAG's revenues it's a drop in the ocean. On top of that there'll be reduced cadet salaries and offsetting against tax to reduce the cost further. Yes airlines are operating in a tough environment and need to control cost, but there's still room to do things the 'right way', as EI have proved over the last few years.
