I always get a chuckle from overwrought engine failure stories. I'm a retired pilot. One night I was flying the red eye from LAX to Tampa in an A320. Climbing through about FL260 we noticed the plane was flying a little crooked. The first officer and I looked at each other wondering what it was. Then we got a bunch of warnings that the right engine had quit. We both relaxed. We had been worried it was a flight control problem which we had not been trained for, but had practiced a lot of single engine landings. We simply made an uneventful landing in Ontario. The SLF were put on another airline's flight that was leaving shortly and the crew took a van back to LA.
