Do you think the late night bare-bones airport/counter staff for AC has access to a company credit card? Or makes enough on the 14-20 bucks an hour they are making to blow their evening's worth of part time wages on 150 dollars CZ worth of pizza? In a region that has seen significant economic struggles over last decade?

Heck no.

I think it's good that WestJet has stayed pretty tight lipped about it. As much as AC is your competitor, there's still good-will between certain common business units that you would not want to upset AC brass about.

The pizza-buying business has been removed from a lot of IROP policies due to allergies and not being able to confirm ingredients. I know sounds stupid, but even the big-teal-brigade in Canada has cut back on it (used to be a regular treat for those passengers stuck in crowded check-in lines during peak travel days).

Hence, why the airport cafe voucher is the preferred (and usually *only* available to counter staff) method - the passenger chooses his/her own food. Obviously when cafe is closed....no food.
