I think the point is that Manchester has the worst public transport uptake of UK airports
Therefore, there is obviously more that can be done. Other airports are obviously managing it.
More express buses, luggage friendly buses, terminal drop offs, more destinations etc.
The truth is, car parking is a huge money spinner for MAG.
Many buses used to stop outside Olympic House, but this was stopped by MAG.
Many people drive to a remote MAG car park and then take the MAG car park shuttlebus, in some cases they could have just travelled in by bus in the first place (had the buses been more user friendly)
I've just travelled this very week on the 747 airport bus in Montreal. It's a standard Transit bus with a couple of luggage racks. Runs every 7 minutes & is full all day- it's a case of perception and making it easy to use. Buses are very common modes of transport for passengers at many airports across the world. Here they are almost relegated to staff & spotters only.
As part of an integrated public transport policy MAG should be engaging with the operators to address these issues. In most places there is a single transport authority for airport companies to deal with, of course unfortunately in Manchester, we have something like 37 operators with no coherent network strategy.
The Station to T3 shuttle bus ran when the terminal was mainly BA and under utilised, now T3 is at max capacity with Intercontinental and European flights and is withdrawn.
