It is way too early to write off the Airport Metrolink. Tram services currently terminate at Cornbrook and do not enter the city centre due to line-capacity limitations. Passengers must change there for onward services, and at present these are disrupted by construction work in the city. Once the second city crossing is completed the Airport Metrolink service will continue through the city centre to Victoria Station with no change of tram required. The early completion of the airport line allowed for part-opening of the operation well ahead of schedule. That has been a positive, but we will see the service operate to its full intended potential once the trams run through Central Manchester to Victoria via 2CC. Having said all that, I am a regular user of the line and there appears to be plenty of customers already.
