Check again, green and gold ARE the official 'national colours', they were changed in the 80s. Previously the national colours were blue and gold as that was the colours below the Commonwealth Star on the Coat of Arms. Curiously the coat of arms doesn't seem to have changed but if I remember correctly they were changed because blue and gold had no significance and everyone thought they were green and gold anyway... because of the colours of the wattle.
Pantone 348C and Pantone 116C (for the green and gold respectively). Changed by proclamation on 19th April, 1984.
