BRIEF-Statoil awards NOK 1 bln helicopter contract to Bristow | Reuters
Intersting nobody has mentioned this yet. CHC has just lost the last big contract in Norway to Bristow. This will mean the closing of Bergen and Florø operations for CHC and the loss of many more pilots.
CHC were until recently Statoils preferred bidder. It looks like that has changed. Survival in Norway is looking anything but assured in todays market for CHC. Amazing to think that only 3 years ago they had the lions share of all the offshore flying in Norway. In just 3 years the main contracts have all gone to other bidders, mostly Bristow. More than likely CHC will have lost over 100 pilots in Norway in the space of 18 months.
There is a lot of discussion about share prices and oil prices on here, but the fact remains that contracts still exist, it is just CHC is not winning them. Bristow is no cheap outfit, and on the surface pilots and engineers have the same terms and conditions as chc, but somehow they are outbidding CHC every time.
