I was there on the RAF Scholarship in 1970. I remember Tony Cosimini and Dave Davico well. My own instructor was Siggy Evans who also used to let me drive around the airfield in his old Morris Minor (I was still a learner driver at the time).

I was saddened to learn on this thread that Dave Davico had been killed in the course of his job. I was curious enough find out what had happened.

In the accident report it says that the Cherokee he was flying along with his student went out of control on take-off at a height of 50 feet. The cause was given as the Cherokee taking off too close behind a departing Argosy. It would therefore have encountered the turbulence of the wake vortex created by the Argosy's take off.
