'Hobie' Hart was one of our regular chippie pilots at 6 AEF and used to put a lot of hours in.
When Don Gardner retired he reappeared next day as a VRT Flying Hofficer,and ISTR was looking forward (if you will excuse the pun) of flying the chippies from the front seat for a change.
Whilst I was involved with 6AEF/ULAS (1980 - 83) -
One of our local Air Traffic Master Pilots did a recurrency course as his resettlement course and came back as a VRT Flying Hofficer !
ISTR that an Air Commodore did as well
