Incident: Easyjet A320 near Milan on Aug 7th 2015, loss of champagne pressure
By Simon Hradecky, created Saturday, Aug 29th 2015 18:52Z, last updated Saturday, Aug 29th 2015 18:52ZAn Easyjet Airbus A320-200, registration G-EZWM performing flight U2-8845 from London Gatwick,EN (UK) to Dalaman (Turkey), was enroute at FL380 about 240nm east of Milan (Italy) in Croatian Airspace when a flight attendant opened a bottle of champagne, the cork of which popped uncontrolled however and damaged ceiling panels resulting in a number of the oxygen masks overhead cabin crew seats being released. The flight crew decided to turn right and divert to Milan Malpensa for a safe landing about 40 minutes later.

The aircraft remained on the ground in Milan for about 90 minutes, then departed again and reached Dalaman with a delay of 3.5 hours.

The airline confirmed a technical issue with the oxygen masks for cabin crew, the aircraft diverted to Milan Malpensa as a precaution to have the cabin crew oxygen masks reset.

Passengers reported they didn't find the occurrence funny at first but now see the lighter side of it. The cork hit the cabin ceiling damaging a number of panels and prompting a number of oxygen masks over cabin crew seats at the back of the cabin to be released.
