Ethel, look around for recent highly qualified reports on the costs and benefits of energy production by wind. The case in Germany is a good place to start. The Germans have given wind as an energy source a good crack, and if anyone could do it with maximum efficiency, it would be the Germans.

The Germans have found wind farms to have unacceptably high capital costs, in installation, maintenance and particularly in replacement which is necessary far sooner than the infrastructure for other forms of energy production.

How do you get around the problem that the high cost of wind energy must mean either uncompetitive energy prices, or unacceptably high subsidies from taxpayers?
