My experiences with real life coalition operations is that herding cats seems simple in comparison. The political fact remains (see the Libya deal for a superb recent example): we (the West) will generally go at it in groups (of varying composition) for a variety of reasons, and will continue to do so for a while. A few can of course manage unilateral ops, and many can manage that as well in smaller ops.
