Zombie airports

A good piece in the independent yesterday. Unfortunately its a bit unbalanced.
Our airports demise, that has put us at the bottom of the table of decline in passenger numbers since 2008, is because Peel have forced it down, and down it continues to go.
The only reason they haven't kicked out FlyBe is because they are code sharing with KLM.
Let me ask a question , has anyone ever Applied 'How far is the nearest proper airport' to the Northern region; You would be surprised to see how much is covered by Teesside as the nearest airport, and this will increase further when Blackpool closes.
That aside why isn't Peel pushing to have a model like Globespans resident aircraft on stand delivering 2 destinations a day. I never travelled on it once when it was less than 90% full? let me tell you. They are not interested.
