I believe there is some sort of agreement where if you are successful in your application with Airservices and you need to go and do your medical, you can potentially claim the costs of it back - but don't quote me on that.
They used to pay for the medical upfront a couple of years ago when I did it. They even booked it for me. Now, I believe the applicant pays for it, then gets remunerated when they start work.
