What I hear is the 20th July network changes to London via Dubai required a sweetener.
Supposedly, QF needed to improve its network timing into London.
They approached their old mates at BA to swap slots.
The reception was icy.
QF are tied into online sales due the EK tie up. So the network changes were permitted when Armadeus was updated to sell the European network ex LHR on BA.
What was old, becomes new again regarding European network ex LHR.
