Also heard that the "flapper door" fix for core icing is a no go for the FAA as it raises the EGT substantially. An electric powered heating solution is now apparently in the works - any comments tdracer?
We're still proceeding with the logic to cycle the VBV doors - yes it raises EGT substantially but we've got lots of margin until you get up real close to max con/max climb, where the VBV logic is turned off. Flight testing of the final FADEC logic has already occurred for the -1B on the 787, planned for late this month for the -2B for the 747. A better question is, does cycling the VBV doors really solve the problem? More testing is required to validate that part
