I'm at a loss to understand how a crowd like Wagners could spend so much on a very large private airport, and yet only have one runway? Does the wind only blow in one direction in Toowoomba??
The whole exercise seems like a loss-making exercise to me, unless Wagners already have agreements in place with "Anchor Businesses" who have agreed to set up their operations there, or make substantial use of their facilities.
There's a lot of noise about how Toowoomba could become the biggest business/air operations/freighting centre outside Brisbane. It's going to take a lot more than just a new private airport to do that.
Air freighting is not exactly a winner at present, and much produce and freight still has to find its way to and from Brisbane.
I hope Wagners have deep pockets and a solid business plan to fund any losses from the airport operation for quite a few years.
