"Geographically, the biggest challenge in Africa where the accident rate is 18 times worse than the global average," said the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of IATA, Tony Tyler.

Tyler is hoping that the rate of accident will reduce drastically when the airlines in the region pass the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), which would become a precondition for the establishment of airlines in the continent by end of 2015.
