A record year for transatlantic growth at the State airports this year with the exception of Cork..the best year ever for Dublin Airport with 14% growth and 1.8m pax, even surpassing the heights of the Celtic Tiger years!
Better still in the Midwest with 35% growth of transatlantic traffic at Shannon with 6 carriers flying across the Atlantic from Shannon..a record year!
Must be embarrassing for the management at Cork Airport with ZERO growth figures.
I`m sure they will continue to do nothing and collect their state salaries hoping the Airbus NEO and the 737 MAX can handle the 7,000ft runway in the latter half of this decade for transatlantic flights.
Why bother being proactive and lobby and plan for a minor extension of the runway at Cork like the management at Waterford airport , a non state airport successfully lobbied for this year.
The sooner Cork is made independent and privatised the better.
