One would assume that the 'manager' would some how be associated with the operational aspect otherwise why visit? This 'manager' sounds more like he came from MFI and we all know what happened to them.
In all my time there I never knew of, or heard of, a NATS corporate type ever visiting the facility. The Chairman and a few senior odd RAF bods used to wander in now and again but they were not so daft as to ask such a silly question! They knew what the operation entailed.
I did however work alongside HD and can say that he was and is 'Fit for purpose'.
Say no more, or not only will I become patronising but supercilious as well.
It is a well known fact that NATS chaps are the Crème de la crème.
To infinity and beyond and, hopefully, back in time for a pint of Guinness.
