In my teens last century my first flight was in an Islander on a pleasure trip from Flamingoland. Take off was interesting as we had to avoid a large tree carefully planted on the end of the (grass) runway.
Absolutely loved the sensation and was hooked. My dad thought it was a waste of money...... Too intellectually challenged to become a pilot but as an airman flew in Lightning, Nimrod, Chippie amongst others and latterly Tucano. Can't complain really.
