My father in law fly's a G200 and makes as much if not more then a G550/650 pilot. He is not fully retired yet but I joke with him that it sure seems like he is. Fly's for a private owners and I would say 75% of the trips are for vacation. Week in cabo here, Week in Hawaii to check on property, Skiing in Utah. Total flying time last year was less then 170hrs.
Why does he get paid so well.
1.He treats the owners wallet like it's his own.
2.Makes sure they are getting the BEST prices. Looks for the best deals ON everything Fuel, Maintenance etc...
3.Has a great personality.
4.And most of all the experience. He flew for the air force and then commercial Captain on 757,767 and has over 28,000+ hours.
The owners even told him when he official retires they want him to stay on to over look the flight dept. because they trust him so much. (they have two other planes)
