I accept all the above, even if I am not familiar with Alaskan ATCC procedures, but is it not reasonable to expect crews to:-

a) Know where they are on an RNAV approach
b) Read the chart
c) Maintain a safe altitude vis a vis position /holding etc?

Especially when not under 'Control'
