Well folks, there's an air of breathless anticipation here at the clandestine Snakes and Ladders championship as the GWM team put the finishing touches to series of uninspired, mundane positioning moves: the music is still playing and the poison chalice is on the move; but soon, the music will stop and it will be the oppositions turn. The question now will be have the GWM crew done enough; or, are they relying on the other team nodding off under the extended time to move rules?
At the moment an interesting series of moves has seen a token from the far north end of the board sliding South on a short connecting snake, which will position it nicely for a rapid climb on a close to home ladder. That ladder is currently occupied, but the tried and tested "sideways" axe manoeuvre may be used again – didn't quite work last time; but it's an entertaining gambit which depends on who wins the shuffle.
At the top of the board there is a little more action, the hackneyed 'Sacrificial Lamb' (SL) option is in play, the big question – is it a lamb or a wolf in sheep's clothing? – either way it's a risky gambit. The opposition have seen this one before and they may not go for it, ever again. The problem for the GWM team is that if the SL strays from the golden pathway it may become a useful weapon. Unpredictable things, even to those with psychic powers. SL' s are rightly famous for their aversion to salt water immersion, verbal abuse, pineapples and can turn nasty when the mood descends.
