Amen to that Mr 'T',
I remember the days, but alas, not the actual date, - mid sixties - it came in from Nowra(?)....Schofields(?)... To Rex Av at BK, where it sat for a while, then took off, flew to Griffith, where they drained out the oils and fuel, and put it up on that pole...where it has sat ever since I guess.
A similar fate to the Spitfire that sat in 'The Terrace' Perth, until it WAS removed, sent to NZ, had moulds made, and now the 'real thing' resides inside the Bull Creek Museum, whilst the fiberglass replica sits on the pole outside...
Decorated in the colors of 451 'Bankstown to Berlin' squadron, which oddly enough had no affiliation with WA....
Except that the Boxing Kangaroo emblem was later used by Alan Bond's yacht race team......
However, it's all good....
