Take a look at the tails of air craft at EDI and LGW. It is all BA and EZY. There is virtually no competition on London-Scotland routes anymore. Capacity is shrinking and my own personal experience is that prices are increasing.
I suspect there was more choice and more competition on these routes when BA was a nationalised carrier...I can think of at least 5 operators that ran the trunk routes in the mid-80's
bmiR dont have the right equipment to take on either EZY or BA, even FlyBE would be a little beyond the 145's. Unless there are plans to get bigger aircraft, bmiR will be toe to toe with Eastern.
