I thought most airports looked like building sites, some worse than others admittedly.
The problem is the airport and the council don't own the land. I seem to recall (early/mid 90s) that the land to the south of the existing runway was owned by Luton Hoo and one other large estate (name escapes me now). I am sure they would be willing to sell, at a price . . . . .
