AAIGuy - err, no. It is exactly the type of "nudge nudge wink wink" kind of approach that has got tax authorities riled up. Plus tax authorities world wide have made it very clear that they do see it as firms' responsibility, not individuals (as much easier for them to put burden of administration onto firms than chase employees)

One long term possibility is to become contractors, not employees. But the rules on that are also getting stricter.
