PPR is quite a helpful thing, many regard it as a nuisance but I don't mind. It lets them know you are coming, also you can find out Wx, any unique local procedures, things to watch out for e.g. NOTAMs/funny business (which you should be checking anyway
) or any other pertinent details.
Not sure why so many have a bee in their bonnet about it? Doesn't do much harm.
