Those Viscounts were just fine!! I used the service weekly for many years, and lost count of the number of times we had to divert to East Mids on the return trip, and coach back, getting home at rediculous hours!! Usually, the whole of Leeds Bradford was completely clear, with a bank of low cloud/fog blotting out the airfield!! Two or three approaches later, we were trundling back South.
I also remember Eddie Waring was a regular passenger. It was before the days of seat allocation, and there was a massive scrum at the foot of the steps. Somehow, he was always the first into the aircraft!!
