Recently there was a SLAF MI 24 helicopter crash, resulting in death and destruction. The SLAF was quick to admit that it was due to a mechanical failure! By their own admission the air force maintenance is 'piss-poor' Now, will they stop flying passengers for hire or reward immediately and throw their doors open for a review by the Civil Aviation Authority? Lastly will they apply for a Air Operators Certificate (AOC)? So that ongoing standards be maintained.

That is what a responsible organisation would do. It is a matter of public safety. With the the Commander as Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority Sri Lanka (CAASL), it is too much to expect. DGCA does not have a spine nor does he have the teeth!

Is their not a clash of interests here?
