(e) The other technique is to pond a narrow section of runway and run the tests on a single wheel assembly, typically the nose wheel. This, as I recall from seeing some footage years ago was the basis for the tests in the early 60s .. but I haven't been able to track down any video records. The technique is used also for engine water ingestion qualification trials. For info,
